True Casino Stories

It is the business of all casinos to take your money, and generally, they do it very well.

The big casinos supply free drinks, reduced (or free) room rates, show tickets, etc., to entice the player to go on gambling. The obvious reason they win is the house edge, which varies greatly from game to game. The house edge is the reason Steve Wynn can build another casino; why The Bellagio can change their carpet every year; and why Indians learn the casino business so quickly. Casinos make money.

Yet in this universe of “We ‘gotcha.” there lies a precious few methods in which the player can turn the cards to his advantage. In Blackjack, the method is called card counting. It is well documented that a good counter can win lots money. Through a complex system of counting and remembering cards, a counter can achieve a slight advantage over the house. For brief periods, the counter bets and wins. And he wins enough to make the casinos sit up and take notice.

Casinos hire surveillance employees that do nothing but monitor play at their casinos. If you are winning big, say over $5,000., you can safely bet that your play is being watched very carefully for counting. But casinos have a counter-weapon at their disposal… Nevada law allows casinos to prohibit play for any (or no) reason at all. If a player is winning too much, they can ask them to leave the casino.

They cannot, as many casinos have found out, rough-up players. In the old days casino personnel could (and sometimes would) take a player out of guest range, and “discourage” his behavior. There are many instances of players being beat-up and threatened. Towards this end, he would also be placed into a blacklist. One of the main blacklists for casinos all over America was formally the blacklist book kept by Griffin Investigations.

But, we are a litigious society. Back in 2000, Gamblers Michael Russo and James Grosjean were publicly called “cheaters,” and were improperly “detained” at a major strip casino. They were also placed into Griffins’ book of undesirables. This was business as usual for casinos.

Only Russo and Grosjean sued.

They were not found with any cheating “devices.” They did not steal casino chips, either from the players or the casino. They simply used their minds well enough to beat the casino with their style of play (counting cards). And they successfully argued that the casinos and Griffin Investigations had no right to improperly detain them or blacklist them.

In September, 2005, Griffin Investigations filled for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing the large financial awards against them by Russo and Grosjean. And you can also bet the casino lawsuits have changed their policies towards counters. Not that they will allow counters to win huge sums of money… They just can’t take them into a back room anymore. “Gentlemen, we do not want your play.” will be about the toughest thing a casino can say or do to card counters.

Huge lawsuits have a way of changing behavior; even in Vegas.

Casino Taboos

You’ll probably get away with most of these casino “taboos”, but that doesn’t mean you should. A casino environment posts very few social regulations, however, that doesn’t mean you should go your own way. For those gamblers who need to see it in print, here’s what you should do:

#1 If You’re Winning… Tip the Dealer. Those hard-working pit employees usually only make minimum wage from the casino- and the rest comes from your tips. There is no set amount you should tip, because that would vary from session to session, place to place. Let’s just say that a tip of 5 to 15% is not out of bounds. But if you’re one of these people who try to get even from a losing session 3 years ago by short-changing dealer tips… As my dog, Remy, would say “Grrrrr.”

#2 Take The Dealer’s Advice. How many times have I seen people playing BJ: ask the dealer for advice; then go the other way and do the exact opposite. If you remember that a dealer makes a living on YOUR TIPS, you’ll be less inclined to think he is trying to give you the bum steer. You asked… so pay attention and do what he/she tells you.

#3 Take A Break. You’ve been losing pretty steady all night. I think it’s very OK for you to suck down some Martini’s and give gambling a rest. Why push it? Gambling has a way of ebbing and flowing. If you stand back, conserve your bankroll, and watch the sights, you’ll have more fun and last much longer.

#4 Don’t Gamble Right Away. You took a three-part flight from Tampa to Vegas. You’ve been jet-lagged into a mental stupor. You can barely answer the desk clerk’s questions at check in, but by god, you exclaim, “I’m ready to gamble!” No… you’re ready to catch some sleep. Obey Mother Nature. Let the gambling wait until you can count to 21 without making mistakes.

#5 Smile Once In Awhile. I know you’re losing. Welcome to the club. But why let that fact keep you from having a good time? There are plenty of great people working in a casino, so treat them with respect and smile once in awhile. I remember a woman who worked the cashier’s cage at The Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. While cashing a few dollars, I struck up a friendly conversation with her. It became the high point of my trip. This lady was such a treat! (Thanks, Chris!) I wiped the scowl off my face and tried to communicate, and surprise, you would be amazed how that was appreciated on their side, too.

#6 If You Don’t Understand… Ask Questions. Nobody is born knowing the odds in Craps, or the best way to double-down in Blackjack. Since the dealers know you don’t know- stop posturing as if you’re James Bond at the Baccarat table. Floor managers and dealers are very willing to help you understand the games they run. Only when it’s a busy Saturday night will they sometimes (understandably) want you to “get on with it.” If you find yourself unable to understand, don’t play. Period.

#7 Don’t Hog The Machines. It’s a busy night in the casino. You’re looking for the Red, White and Blue dollar machine, and finally, after zigzagging all over the place you find it. Unfortunately, some lazy, somewhat eccentric person insists on playing three machines at a time. You’ve been given the evil eye to “stay away.” All I can say to that person is “Pig! Have some respect and let other’s play, too!” Play one machine at a time, and then move on if the mood strikes you, but try not to stake out a whole row, OK?

And remember, there is a special place in Gambler Hell reserved for anybody breaking these casino taboos.

Tips For Choosing an Online Casino

With the rise in internet technology, computer technology and gaming technology it is no surprise that gambling has spread to the internet. It is now a popular means to enjoy one’s favorite casino game without the worry of planning a trip to the nearest casino, finding accommodations and other necessities. Online gambling brings the casino experience right to your own home.

While many are switching their gambling to the internet for convenience, you do not want to hop on the internet and deposit your money at any online casino. It is very important to research any potentials for several factors before trusting them with your money.

But how does one go about researching online casinos and what does one look for?

One of the things you need to know about an online casino is whether it is regulated or not. Being regulated means that their business operations are held to certain standards. Should those regulations be violated and customers become unsatisfied or cheated, the country that is doing the regulating will pull the casino’s license. Knowing whether or not any of your potential casinos are regulated or not can help you decide on where to play by eliminating any that are not regulated.

Also examine the customer support services. Find out what means you have to contact them. You can even try out a little test. Contact the customer support staff with a fairly simple question-you could even ask who they are regulated by-and see how they handle your question and how quickly they respond. This is a good test should you ever have any questions in regards to your account and the money you have deposited there. Their response should be fairly quick and very professional. Some customer support staffs have live chat options that patrons really like.

And speaking of deposits, check to see how the online casinos accept players’ money. You want to choose one that offers your preferred method of making a deposit. For example, if you would like to make a deposit to your account using your credit card, make sure that your credit card brand is accepted there. It will eliminate the potential for becoming frustrated later if you were to find out that your card would not be accepted. Always check ahead of time before you are ready to play.

For your own benefit, another popular draw to online casinos are the Welcome Bonuses that they offer new players. See what is being offered to you as a new player. But do not just look at the bonus amount being offered; make sure to check what the offer requirements are to redeem the bonus amount. Many offers come with playing requirements that have to be met before you can withdraw any of the bonus amount.

Is this beginning to sound like a lot of have to look for? Thankfully, there is a way to find all of this information in a fairly easy manner. That way is be reading reviews of online casinos.

These reviews are written by others, not the casinos themselves, and will have information about the regulating body, the customer support staff, along with information about the Welcome Bonuses and their requirements.

A visit to a site such as http://onlinecasinosuite.com can offer such reviews on more than a dozen different online casinos, making it easy for you to find the information that you are looking for easily accessible from one location.

Casino Flicks – Missing The Moments Is Crime

Anomaly is part of life and it reflects badly when criticized publicly. Many watch tons of casino movies or spend hours playing the best online casino. However, anomalies change the scope of things forever for you, of course only when you notice them. For an example, many gambling movies have a lot of absurdness in them and that make watching the flick a painful experience. Even movies scoring more than $500 million at the making cost of $150 million like Casino Royale have discrepancies in it. Well, here is a collection of the missing moments of some great casino movies Hollywood produced and the audience watched.

Casino Royale – The Monster Hand For All
Have you noticed that both crucial card showdowns in the movie by Le Chiffre and Bond have monster hands? Well, another story linked with the movie is Angelina Jolie refused to act as the eye candy in the film although she was the first choice of the film producer. She offered to play lady James Bond instead. Things worked well for the movie and it reflects from the overall collection of around $600 million. Anomalies like monster hand indeed are a part of audience’s life, whether you want it or not. Well, it is all about the master of a big coin.

Ocean’s 11 – The Heist Without A Twist
Movie collection of $450 million in the making cost of $85 million raised quite a lot of expectations from this box office release in December of 2011. However, improper visioning ruined the essence of the heist. Missing realism makes the scene mundane. The plan derailed due to excessive dependence of characters on scenarios and situations. However, the movie really was into the day-to-day life of a casino and it represented it well. Another tale of Ocean’s 11 was all the roles were shuffled and switched drastically. George Clooney replaced Bruce Willis and so on.

Maverick – The Good Luck or Bad Luck with Unbelievable Hands
Maverick, released in May of 1994 is a classic example of missing the moments. It needed $75 million to make and sold out at $183 million. With IMDB score 7 out 10, the film did well at the box office. However, it featured ridiculous showdowns. The childish approach truly is disappointing. However, it truly showcased the true life of traveling card sharks and cheats or quick wit involved. Loan sharks, deception, money, greed, and power are some elements of a good casino movie and Maverick has it all. Commendable attempt of amusing audience by the movie is worth praise especially when 25k then is equivalent to 600,000 today.

The amazing world of casino movies is entertaining and it shows the glimpses of real casino life and the world of gambling. Movies like Gambler or A Fistful Of Dollars are some other names in line with Casino Royale and many more. Watching gambling movies is as thrilling as spending some time in live casino in the UK. The excitement never sleeps when you are up to it. Well, it seems it still requires time to bring the subject matter on the face. Gambling moves are a give and take. It is up to you which side you want to play.

Online Casinos – Faster Game Play Equals Bigger Profits

Even if you are the luckiest person on the face of the Earth, winning at the casino is often out of our control, especially if a table is so busy that it won’t accept any more players. So what are we to do on a Saturday night when we want to gamble, but the local casino is too busy to accept our business? The answer: bet at an online casino. Online casinos offer several advantages over land based casinos, including the following advantages:

1) No More Busy Tables

There’s nothing worse than going to the casino and having to shuffle through people, and having to fight in order to place a bet. With online casinos, this problem has well and truly been solved! In the comfort of my own home on a Saturday night, I’m free to bet on any game I like, and know that it won’t ever be too busy to accept my business.

2) Almost Instant Results

In real life casinos, bet results can come very slowly, especially if you are betting on a busy table. I am not a very patient person, and I don’t like to waste my precious time. Betting at online casinos, results are delivered almost instantly, which is great!

3) More Profits

Faster game play means you can bet more often, and win more often. Even the best gambler won’t make much money if they can’t place bets at a decent speed.

There you have it my friends, a few reasons why many people are starting to turn to online casinos. Land based casinos are still a lot of fun, however, they don’t hold a thing next to their online competitors. Speed, accuracy, variety, and the sheer convenience of having a fully functional casino in your own home are virtually unbeatable qualities.

Dangers of Online Betting Fraud and Sportsbook Fraud

Finding an honest online casino seem like a very hard task these days, but it’s not impossible. Experts estimate that 25% of online fraud is committed through casinos and online gambling. This is a huge amount of fraud and creates 1000’s of victims.

Fraudulent online betting sites or casinos often establish their online presence by creating elaborate sites and use paid advertising to find their clients (victims). They don’t stay in business long, so the sites never get natural ranking on search engines or reviews or recommendations from other online gamblers. They rely on paid advertising to find their clients and a flashy site to gain their trust.

Unfortunately, consumers seem to trust companies with more elaborate sites, because they think they cost a lot of money and they a company must be legitimate if they can afford such and good looking online casino. The reality is that most of these scam sites are build using a standard template and casino software than can be purchased for a few hundred dollars.

These companies establish business in a country that has no laws regarding online gambling and are smart enough to shut down and start a new site before the authorities figure out their scamming activities. Many times, the accounts and websites are shut down before the first complaint even makes it to the hands of the authorities. The reality is, these companies can have 100’s of sites running at once and many “shell companies” hiding and protecting the real owners. This allows them to scam people over and over again without getting caught.

Not to mention, these companies know which countries will come after them for these crimes and which will not. In some cases, they authorities of the country may even be on the payroll. This makes it very difficult to catch these people.

Surprisingly, the biggest scam is not part of the gambling or betting at all, it’s about getting the credit card numbers and personal information. These scammers use these numbers to make fraudulent purchases or to steal the identity of the player. Instead of taking a few hundred dollars in a lost bet, the scammer now has access to 10,000’s in good credit.

The only up-side to all of this, is that the credit card companies are responsible for this type of debt, not the card holder. So as long as you report the debt in a timely fashion, you will not need to pay back the debt these scammers rack up. It will create a mess of your credit and you may need to spend several days or weeks straightening things out, but in the end, you should be ok.

Legitimate online casinos rely on privacy, fair odds, and word of mouth to keep their clients, so when a player finds a good online casino, they don’t need to worry about their private information. Once a player has enough experience, they will see a similar return on their investment as in a normal (not online) casino that is heavily regulated.

The point is, finding a trustworthy casino can be a hard task, but once you do, your private information should be well protected and you should be able to experience the same joy and excitement as you would at the tables in Las Vegas. Just be careful and try to find reviews from other gamblers/betters and use websites that have already established themselves as a reputable site.

Good Luck!

My First Time Visiting Thunder Valley Casino

When I first visited Thunder Valley Casino I thought I was lost. I drove past the buildings in Sacramento and into wide open space. This was odd to me because I didn’t know Sacramento had too many wide open spaces. And even though I felt like I was way out it really didn’t take but about 30 minutes from our hotel. As California casino lovers I’m sure you realize that’s not very far for some of these casinos.

So there I was in what I felt to be the middle of nowhere when I saw it in the distance. I was actually quite stunned because it was massive! I thought it’d be small considering the surrounding areas grassy fields, but believe me it’s not. It’s like 6 stories!

My wife’s eyes light up like Christmas. She’s the true lover of gambling. I just love the casinos and the nightlife, but when she saw that place, her jaw dropped. It stayed that way when we entered the gambling for too. The ceilings were seriously, and I mean seriously vaulted.

There’s this great modern bar in the middle here she and I really enjoyed sitting back and talking. For those who know my wife they know that sitting back and talking at a casino is not normally her thing. The bar had this great geometric dim lighting and was located in the middle of the gaming floor on the west end.

And I was not disappointed on the other end either. There an equally as cool but totally different bar. More of a sport bar but encased and surrounded with fountains and multi colored lights. We enjoyed ourselves there a bit as well.

If you frequent Native American Casinos in California you are used to seeing a lot of the same slot machines and video poker. Luckily the gaming floor is massive and there are tons of slots. I was really surprised to see games I had never played before. Sure enough later I saw them starting to come into my own local Native American casino, but it was there that I got to try them first.

I would have really enjoyed the chance to stay at the hotel. I went there at night so I didn’t really get a chance to see the huge pool and luxury that the spa and hotel are had to offer. I’m heading down there again this Labor Day weekend and I am going to take a look. I’ll be sure to get some pictures.

The beers were cheap. Of course I come back to beer but isn’t that what a casino is for…? Drinking and Gambling! They had a lot of micro brews, free drinks and the bars were stacked with all sorts of alcohol. Alcohol I’ve never heard of and I was a bartender. Granted it was only for two years, but I was a bartender none the less.

We were only planning on staying for 3-4 hours due to our limited schedule but we had so much fun we moved some things around and stayed for 6! We had a blast and like I said we will be heading back down there this weekend.

So if you’re looking for a casino near Sacramento the check out Thunder Valley Casino, Hotel, and Resort. It really is all those things. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I will be returning again and again. http://casinoscal.com/placer-county/lincoln/thunder-valley-casino/
